After more emails and phone calls than I care to discuss, students are finally doing more assignments and occasionally showing up for Zoom meetings.
This is GREAT NEWS because I can use my spare time to give to myself, family, friends, and clients as I am A web Master and Technology, Consultant!
THANK YOU TO ALL PARENTS THAT UNDERSTOOD MY PLIGHT TO GET YOUR KIDS BACK ON TOP OF THEIR WORK!
This week many seniors will be turning in their projects and portfolios, so if I don’t get back to you right away its because I am doing my best to help them finish.
Expect some interesting and fun projects posted here in the coming weeksI suggest that parents go over the assignment with their kids. Part of the feedback I get from many of your kids is that they wish that you would do some of the assignments with them.
I am also including my calendar for the month of MAY 2020. Just remember that it updates in real-time because it is configured to change as my schedule updates.
The main assignment is posted on Google Classroom. This assignment requires the student to work with their email, calendar, classroom, and a great note-taking system called KEEP.
If you want to track my class calendar on your mobile device, please follow this link.
Currently, your students should be mastering Digital Literacy, Learning about Computer Science coding and mark up languages, and improving their skills in typing. If any parent is interested in taking any of the courses I offer for free this summer, please let me know! The more digitally literate each family becomes, the better chances for success in this new “knowledge economy.”
Students and Parents Alike:
Parents, please continue to monitor your kids! We are not out of the tough part of the school yet. Many of the kids admit to being lazy because they simply don’t associate the home with doing all of their school work. In the student’s head, To teens, a home is a place where they are supposed to relax. So trying to re-wire their brains and their expectations are going to take the efforts of each one of us. All of my students are continually reminded, if they police themselves then I don’t have to chase them down and remind them of their responsibilities. Thank you so much for taking it easy on the students when they slip and “panic lie.” We know they don’t mean to do it. I am only interested in and making sure that they are prepared for the complicated world that awaits them after high school, so I am happy not to sweat the small stuff.
If students do their work, they need not go to the Zoom Meetings unless they need help and support!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
